You were not very specific about your current status and your desired target. Anyway some general rules are
1) check your weight at a fixed time say morning before breakfast every week
2) Tea/ coffee 2-3 times a day only , preferably without sugar
3) No sweets , minimum potato , minimum dal , max one spoonful of rice each in lunch and dinner
4) BRISK walking for at least 30 minutes in the morning or evening before dinner .
5) Plenty of water , at least 3 litres per day
6) Hitting the gym under instructor's advice.
7) Never eat stomach ful meals , keep something empty .Drink water after at least 20 minutes of your meal.
8) No sleeping in the afternoon
Do not expect miracles within 10 days , but you will feel the difference after a week
