Press down the battery bay cover to open it and pull the battery out of the bay. Lay the computer face-down on a table, preferably in a room that isn't carpeted. This will minimize the risk of electrostatic discharge. Remove the screw on the memory bay cover and take the cover off the computer. The memory bay is the compartment in the center of the computer. Touch the computer's rear connector panel to ground yourself and discharge any built-up static electricity. Press the retainer tab on each side of the memory module outward to unlock the module. Grasp the module by the edges and pull it out of the slot at a slight upward angle. Remove the new module from its packaging and align it with the memory slot. Replace the memory bay cover and tighten the screw. Press down the battery bay cover and insert the battery.
