Infamous drama queen Rakhi Sawant has been in news for all the wrong reasons, but not this time. The item girl-cum-reality show actor has been invited to be a part of the Indian Independence Day parade being held on Sunday in New York.
For those unaware, Indian Independence Day is celebrated across the world to mark the cultural legacy and rich heritage. And the 65th Independence Day celebrations in New York would be the biggest event outside India celebrating Indian Independence from the clutches of British rule.
Shilpa Shetty and Rani Mukerji have already attended the parade in the past, and this year, Rakhi Sawant would be representing the Indian film fraternity. Confirming the news, Rakhi says, "It's an honour that they have showed their love for me by inviting me for the celebrations. Every Indian, no matter rich or poor, famous or common, has the right to hoist the flag and celebrate the day."
To add to our surprise, Sawant will not only sport a self designed Tricolor sari holding a huge Tricolor flag in her hands, but, hold your breath, will give a speech too. "I always speak from my heart. I will speak extempore there. Definitely I will talk about our freedom fighters, their struggle against colonial rule and atrocities of British," says Rakhi.
Well, the speech is all we are excited about (pun intended)!
