Wrestler Sushil Kumar has many achievements to his name already. In fact, he has gone from strength to strength after winning the historic bronze at the Beijing Olympics.
And now the 29-year-old grappler is a World champion as well as a Commonwealth Games champion. Now the only thing left to complete his CV is an Olympic gold. Sushil qualified for London in the final qualifying tournament in Taiwan as he clinched gold in the World Qualifying tournament.
But his only concern is not that as he has his sight firmly set on the Games. He recently returned from Colorado Springs, US, where the grapplers were training for the 2012 Games. Ahead is London tour, so when sources quizzed him if the pressure is more compared to Beijing Olympics, he said, “Pressure is always there when you are representing the country at the Olympics.
Everyone I meet expects me to bring back gold from London. But that doesn't have any negative impact, it only motivates you to push harder”. Talking about the memories of the day he clinched bronze in Beijing he said, “I made a few mistakes in my first bout which I lost, probably I was feeling some pressure in that match. After that, I knew what I needed to do and although most of the bouts went down to the last round, I always believed in myself.”
Well, that is really applaudable and we hope he continues his good show in London as well!
