Since India’s poor show in the test matches in Australia, the talks are making rounds that Indian skipper MS Dhoni might get replaced as the test captain!
None of the BCCI members gave any clarification on the same, which proves that they might be miffed with the talks. Dhoni at pre-match press conference commented that he is willing to quit Test captaincy if there is any suitable candidate. He further added that he don’t have a say in selections as BCCI selects the team.
Reacting on Dhoni’s comments the Indian cricket board (BCCI) made it clear that picking the new Test captain or retaining the current captain is the job of the selectors, and that suggesting names of candidates to the selectors was the job of the working committee.
A BCCI official told the sources that, “Dhoni said the selectors seldom gave him the team he wanted. If that was the case, a section of the selectors felt that the Indian skipper should have given the selectors credit after the World Cup win, which Dhoni didn't.” There are also members in the board who feel that Virat Kohli is the future captain. "Even Dhoni was made captain at a very early age," said the BCCI official.
Clearly, it's a war out in the open and it may just go out of hand!
