Abhaas Mehta, better known as bad man Shyam in Star Plus’ highly popular show Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon feels that due to his negative character people have started calling him a bad person and even hate him while outside the screen.

The most liked show Iss Pya…on television is often credited for its success to leads Barun Sobti aka Arnav and Sanaya Irani aka Khushi but the show's success is incomplete without the mention of Shyam.

Talking of his role, Abhaas says, "People, often come up to me and stare blankly, after a minute of silence they will shout at me because of my character portrayed negatively. Recently, as Arnav was kidnapped, I have heard such negative statements that I actually ponder over my role."

When asked about people's reaction to his character, Abhaas says, "Initially I used to get worried but then I slowly realized that I am doing absolute justice to my role and the comments I get are positive for my character Shyam. I now walk with great pride and I am happy to be part of this popular show."
