Indian star pugilist Sushil Kumar made country proud on the last day of London Olympics as he brought us the fourth wrestling medal in the Games 2012 on Sunday.
It was the third in the past four years, with the first one coming way back in the 1952 Helsinki Games when Khashaba Dadasaheb Jadhav won bronze. Sushil seemed elated with the win as he said after the match that the two wrestling medals here would give a huge fillip to the sport.
He said, "I failed to win gold but managed to win silver. It is very disappointing but I will settle for that. Yogi got it yesterday. This is huge for Indian wrestling. The sport is going to gain in popularity. It will draw in more fans, more support."
Sushil, who failed to make an impact in the final and was outclassed by his Japanese rival, admitted that he was unwell. "My stomach was not good. I don't know what happened. I suffered from loose motions."
When quizzed if it was the pressure of the final, he said, "No, it was not pressure. I had a stomach infection but difficulty and pain are part of the sport. Yeh chalta rahta hai… I could have tried harder. I had trained very well," he said.
Well, Sushil there is always a next day, still you are the true star of India!
