Mukesh Ambani has been in news for quite some time now. Earlier it was about his business acumen, unlimited wealth and new ventures. Off lately, more and more people are talking about his new house and its many wonders!
For the uninitiated, Mukesh Ambani has recently moved into his new home which has been christened “Antilla” for now (some sources say that the name may be changed to “Anandam”). Mukesh has already been named as one of the richest men in the world and his house is the most expensive home on the entire planet!
However, this man doesn’t seem to be satisfied with these ‘achievements’. Now the guy has set up a new record. His Godzilla like home consumes more than 6, 37,240 units of power which has resulted in an electricity bill of Rs. 70L per month. Naturally, luxuries like gyms, parking places, swimming pools and lifts are the main culprits that consume more than half the power. According to experts, the amount of power consumed by Mukesh’s home can actually be used to light up more than 7,000 homes in Mumbai and run all the electronic amenities.
The tycoon ensured that his first bill that amounted to Rs. 7,069,488 was paid as soon as possible. The Electricity board was so impressed with his ‘prompt’ payment that they decided to give him a discount of Rs.48, 354.00! Wonder why?
Nevertheless, this news has made one thing quite clear. Though the rich and famous keep talking about conserving power in a power-deficit country like India, they hardly walk the talk themselves. Instead of preaching, they should be leading by example and use energy efficient devices that can save power. What do you say?
