Ace tennis player Rafael Nadal, nursing knee problem, is missing the play, ever since he was shockingly knocked down by lowly ranked Czech Lukas Rosol in the second round of Wimbledon Open, in June. He even took his name back from London Games 2012 and on Wednesday withdrew from the US Open.
Currently his focus is to get fully recovered from a shrewish knee injury known as Hoffa's syndrome. The world number three said he must fully recover before returning to competition and was a doubt for next month's Davis Cup semifinal against the United States.
The Spaniard, who is recuperating in his hometown of Manacor in Mallorca said, “The important thing is to recover well and come back when my knee is a hundred percent perfect. We'll see if I will be ready for Gijon, for the Davis Cup. My goal, my dream is to be there if the captain has confidence in me, but it always depends on the captain and the knee."
Nadal, who is known for his aggressive play, has suffered string of physical problems during his career, including a foot injury in 2005 and more recently with his knees. However, he clears that this time the problem is different and it started before Indian Well in February. Though he controlled his pain for few months but after French Open it got worse.
"The important thing today is to recover as fast as possible after not arriving in perfect condition at Wimbledon."
