Well, this is sure to surprise all the fans of Rani Mukerji, who despite doing an intense drama like No One Killed Jessica, now says that is no more willing to do dark films? This is the latest news which we came to know just after her interview to media people during the unveiling of first look of Aiyaa.
Rani says, “When Anurag Kashyap came to me I told him that I can't do the kind of movies that he makes...that I don't want to do dark films. I told Anurag I want to do happy film. I was surprised when Anurag told me he is offering me a happy film. This film is mad...funny, quirky...whacky”.
Film Aiyaa is Hindi remake of original Marathi film Gandha and Rani is playing character of a Marathi girl who falls in love with a Tamil boy (portrayed by south superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran) because he smells good.
“My character Meenakshi Deshmukh is very filmy. She is huge fan of Sridevi, Juhi Chawla and Madhuri Dixit. She dreams about them and goes in fantasy world all the time”, Rani tells.
Film is very special for many reasons like it is a comeback film of Rani Mukerji, South superstar Prithviraj is debuting in Bollywood with the same. It is first happy movie from Anurag Kashyap who is otherwise known for gloomy movies. Moreover, it has Marathi flavor instead of Punjabi culture (often and too much shown in Hindi films).
So now we can expect the film will be a full paisa vasool entertainer due to its different story idea and representation. Aiyaa directed by Sachin Kundalkar is slated to release on October 12.
