Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who marched with the Olympic relay in London Olympics 2012 at the inaugural ceremony, has hailed Indian woman boxer Mary Kom's Olympics win and says he is glad to see India's medal tally increasing over the years in the mega event.

It is no news anymore that Mary Kom ensured a fourth medal for the country at the 2012 London Olympic Games by making her way to the semi-finals.

"Mary Kom from Manipur in the far east region of India has won her boxing bout against a difficult opponent and is now sure of at least winning a medal for the country," Amitabh Bachchan wrote on his blog.

"Mary Kom has had an amazing life and her story is such a fairy tale, it would be difficult to imagine what all she went through to get where she is today. A mother of two, taking up boxing for India and coming out victorious is nothing short of miraculous," he said.

The 69-year-old also expressed his delight over India's increasing medals tally at the Games over the years. In 2008 Beijing Olympics India had got three medals, while in the ongoing 2012 London Olympics, the country's medal tally has already increased to four.

"Our medals tally though minimal and almost unknown is gradually increasing over the years, and it is wonderful to see India being associated with certain disciplines that were never there on our radar before!" he said.

It is evident how enthusiast Mr. Bachchan is about Olympics. Hope the medal tally keeps on going high!
