This is surely going to be a good piece of news for filmmaker Prakash Jha as his next film Chakravyuh has been invited to the prestigious BFI London Film Festival for a world premiere in October.
Needless to say that Jha is highly elated over the fact and said, “It’s a prestigious festival which provides good exposure for the film. But it is not opening the festival. It has been invited for a world premiere”. For the uninitiated it was his Mrityudand that opened the London Film Festival in 1997.
Chakravyuh, again a political drama stars Arjun Rampal,Abhay Deol, Manoj Bajpayee, Kabir Bedi and Esha Gupta. It was earlier planned for release on October 5. But Jha says since the film festival starts October 10, they would have to consider postponing the release to October 12. Saying that he even mentioned that they are just “thinking about it” at the moment. He is happy that the festival “is now opening to Bollywood films”.
Meanwhile, if Chakravyuh releases on October 12 then it will be followed by Karan Johar’s much-awaited Student of the Year a week later. However, Jha holds a view that it won’t influence the response to his film. He stated, “There is no big movie coming out the following week. Only Student of the Year is coming out the next week, which is okay”.
