Rajesh Khanna’s final farewell of his prayer meet was graced by many biggies of B-town but there was once face that etched the mark and stood out of the crowd and the face was of Anju Mahendru, 66-yrs old model turned actress and so called girl friend of Rajesh Khanna. Anju was dressed up in white and sunglasses atop her pulled back hair.

From 1966 to 1972, both Rajesh Khanna and Anju Mahendru had things humming between them but later their acrimonious split made Kaka marrying 16-yr old beauty Dimple Kapadia and within six months of their marriage, Dimple Kapadia’s blockbuster Bobby released and she became one of the big names in the fraternity.

Whereas here with Anju, her career was facing bigger challenges as it is reported that Rajesh Khanna was planting wrecks on it which vouch proofs by the fact that Anju never managed to get lead roles even after being discovered by lyricist Kaifi Aazmi. She debuted with Uski Kahaani in 1966 and after that she did a film with Rajesh Khanna named Aakhiri Khat and that was the last in their relationship and the duo was not on speaking terms after that till the long times span of 17 yrs.

Anju kept doing roles in small and silver screen and she performed in some of the recent movies like Humko Diwana Kar Gaye, I Hate Love Stories and she was recently seen performing against Vidya Balan as journalist in The Dirty Picture.

No second thoughts on the fact that demise wipes of all enmity.
