Sequels or franchises have become a new trend in the Bollywood town. The makers and producers try to encash the popularity of their successful films by making their sequels. But the serial kisser of the Indian Film Industry Emraan Hashmi, who is closely associated with franchises, holds a different view altogether.
It is notable that Emraan is not appearing in the third franchise of his blockbuster Murder; he has been replaced by Randeep Hooda. Sources give the reason that it is Vishesh Bhatt’s (Mahesh Bhatt’s son) directorial debut so had to hit the floors soon and Emraan had no early dates available for the movie.
On being quizzed about his association with the franchises of his blockbusters, he revealed to sources, “There could be a Murder 4, 5…15, but I don’t think I’ll be part of any of these movies. For me, a franchise can at best be stretched to a trilogy. After that, it shows lack of creativity and originality to take it forward and dilute the brand”.
He added, “Once Part 3 ends, it’s better to experiment with a new franchise than get lazy with an old one.”
When asked if his decision of working outside the Bhatt camp has agonized uncles (Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt), he stated, “I’ve done other productions in the past. Yes, earlier I was doing two films a year with the family banner. Now, that’s gone down to one. They need to work with other actors, and me, with other filmmakers, or we’ll be stuck in a cesspool and end up being repetitive. Now, when we get together, it will be with something new and exciting.”
