Born and brought up in Delhi, Varun is the son of renowned artist Vishwa Mohan Badola. He is the youngest in the family, and has 2 elder sisters, Alka, is married and has appeared in Star Plus’ Kumkum, while Kalindi is a radio jockey. He did his schooling from Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, New Delhi.
After completing his college, he started his preparations to venture into acting. In his early days he worked Tigmanshu Dhulia as assistant director and costume arranger. He debuted on small screen with Balaji Telefilms for Koshish playing the male lead.
Later he did many shows, like, Kutumb, Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand, Astitva...Ek Prem Kahani, to name a few. In 2012, he made comeback on television doing the role of antagonist Thakur Vikram Singh in Zee TV’s Phir Subah Hogi. On personal front, he is married to TV actor Rajeswari Sachdev.
