Gautam Gambhir is an Indian cricketer born in Punjabi family. He made his ODI debut in 2003 and tests in 2004 under the captaincy of Saurav Ganguly. Earlier Gambhir had been in news for his performance in domestic matches.
In the year 2002 after his tremendous performance in first class cricket where he smashed two consecutive double-centuries from which one was against Zimbabwe. Soon after he became the lead competitor for India’s opening pair.
After entering in International cricket he has smashed five centuries and that too in five successive matches which also made him one of only four international cricketers to achieve this height. He was also ranked number one in ICC tests rankings in 2009 for the period of 10 days.
