Ameesha Patel, daughter of Amit Patel and Asha Patel, sister of Ashmit Patel. Her birth name is a made of the first three initials of her father's name Amit and the last three letters of her mother's name Asha. Born in Breach Candy Hospital, she got her education form cathedral John Connon School Mumbai and moved to overseas to study Economics at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts.
The debutant of Kaho Na Pyar Hai was lucky to shine with her first flick itself. She initially rejected the offer as she wanted to continue her education in US. Kareena Kapoor was chosen as a substitute of Ameesha in KNPH but later on when Kareena stepped back again, Ameesha got the blockbuster in her kitty. Having first flick as a smashing grosser, Ameesha soon grabbed eyeballs and reserved a place in the charts and also reserved a place in award ceremonies by monopolizing all debut and new comer awards.
Patel was auditioned for around 12 times and had faced a tough competition from 500 more girls to get the role in KNPH. Unfortunately her girst grand success snatched away luck from her and a trail of flops started flooding in. She did perform in Shart, Vaada, Humko Tumse Pyar Hai, Hey Baby and many more uncountable projects.
